Amy Jewett Sampson, MPA

Real PR Media Managing Partner

Amy SampsonAmy brings more than 15 years of public relations experience and expertise. She served as a gubernatorial spokesperson and senior policy adviser to the 40th Governor of Colorado where she worked closely with key leaders in Colorado and Washington, D.C. — collaborating with the offices of former Secretary of State Colin Powell, the United States President’s Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to name a few.

Crisis management was a key responsibility while serving in her appointed gubernatorial role. Amy served as a point of contact for media inquiries for the state. She managed the media coverage during the aftermath of the Columbine High School tragedy — planning and coordinating the Columbine Memorial Service attended by more than 70,000 people with more than 200 local, national and international media personnel covering the service. Amy served as spokesperson during other crises including the Jon Bonet Ramsey grand jury investigation, terrorist attacks of 9-11, and Colorado’s summer of wildfires.

Amy’s strategic public relations expertise includes vital areas such as economic development – promoting trade missions including the Governor’s visits to Northern Ireland, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Amy’s international media relations work with Rwandan orphans helped raise more than $1 million dollars for the humanitarian-aid organization Food for the Hungry.

In addition, her skills for positive promotion include receiving favorable media coverage for statewide education and transportation initiatives. Amy’s experience in the educational environment implementing successful brand marketing campaigns; as well as public relations campaigns promoting new graduate degree programs and groundbreakings for new college departments, earned favorable news coverage.

A published author, Amy’s parenting book Mamma Mania: Managing the Craze of 0-5 Year Olds (Tate Publishing) hit books stores in June 2009.

Amy has a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She also holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.
